Job Summary
This position teaches the undergraduate level course PAR 330 Verse Interpretation. Applicants should be informed about issues related to diversity and inclusivity and be able to incorporate relevant themes and topics into course content. This is a 3-credit course, scheduled to meet from Jan 11 – May 4, 2027 on Naropa’s Arapahoe Campus.
Course Description:
This course provides ongoing training in oral interpretation, with special attention to communicating in verse and poetic forms, integrating body, mind, and sound. Through expressive exercises, monologues, and scene work, students develop skills in the areas of articulation, focus, concentration, visualization, and the voice as action. Students learn how to take risks, vocalize, and communicate intention in verse forms, and how to make informed interpretive choices.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Teaches with a professional level of preparedness for 3 hours each week for the duration of the 15 week semester. For Spring the class meets 9:00AM – 10:30 M/W
• Prepares a course syllabus according to the Academic Affairs syllabi instructions and submits to Naropa College by the established deadline.
• Grades all assignments, provides feedback to students in a timely manner, and submits final grades by the deadline established by the Registrar.
• Submits grading and attendance data into the Learning Management System (LMS) in a timely manner.
• Provides one hour of office hours each week plus availability to students by appointment.
• Mentors students outside of class through meetings, phone or e-mail, as needed.
• Obtains permission from the copyright owner for any copyrighted material to be used in sourcebooks.
• Supports assessment process as assigned.
• Completes any and all trainings as required by Human Resources or the Office of Academic Affairs within the time period set for completion by those departments.
• Other duties as assigned.

• MA, BFA, or MFA in related field or comparable professional experience.
• Ability to lead training in embodied movement for performers.
• Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
• Knowledge of and ability to teach the views of contemplative education.
• An understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity.
• Commitment to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and ongoing self-examination.
What We’d Like You to Have
• Professional teaching experience in the undergraduate classroom environment, including syllabus development, the ability to support many learning styles and grading.
• Familiarity with contemplative education.
