Job Summary

The Bike Shack Assistant Manager is responsible for providing customer service in the bike shack. In addition, the Bike Shack Assistant Manager designs and executes education and outreach into the larger community. This position also performs bicycle maintenance and repair, assisting in documenting all services performed, and facilitates cleaning and maintaining bike shack workspace. The Bike Shack Assistant Manager assists in appointment scheduling and teaching community members how to fix bicycles.

 Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
  • Ensure COVID-appropriate safe operations of the Naropa Bike Shack, according to the sanctioned “re-opening” protocol: limited, remote drop-offs; physical distancing; face coverings; no public entry into Shack
  • Respond and reply to Bike Shack Intake form requests in a timely and respectful manner
  • Facilitate maintenance and repair of Naropa community members’ bicycles.
  • Provide bicycle related information and resources to community.
  • Create and distribute flyers about the Bike Shack to educate and interest the Naropa community.
  • Set up, monitor, and tear down the Bike Shack table at Naropa community events.
  • Provide bicycle related information and resources to community.
  • Document all services provided as required by the Bike Shack processes.
  • Assist in budgeting, track and report sales, purchases and donations.
  • Teach community members bike mechanics.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Bike Shack.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Has previously attended or is able to attend Basic Bicycle Mechanics at Community Cycles (Naropa partner) on the timeframe set by the Sustainability Director.
  • Familiar with and knows bikes, and familiar with bicycle parts/functions and bicycle maintenance tools.
  • Problem solving skills, especially mechanical issues.
  • Works will in a team, or alone; willing to learn and teach others.
  • Comfortable with computer usage and willing to learn new processes/programs.

All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
