Compensation: $18.00  per hour

Job Summary
The Library Assistant work study is responsible for providing quality customer service and performing general library tasks in person and through online platforms, with working knowledge of library policies and procedures.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Creates and maintains a positive team environment and behaves professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
• Helps and communicates with patrons to find materials and resources, including but not limited to books, articles, recordings, etc.
• Performs all circulation functions accurately.
• Understands the library and university computer systems and platforms used to help library users.
• Places patron reservations for AV equipment
• Troubleshoots AV, and computer network and printing issues with patrons.
• Helps patrons with basic research questions, knows when to refer to staff/librarians.
• Answers patron questions in person, over the phone, and via email and other web platforms.
• Maintains library order and organization, including basic cleaning of library areas.
• Shelves materials accurately using Library of Congress call numbers.
• Creates a professional and friendly library atmosphere, with a focus on customer service.
• Staffs at multiple library branches on different campuses.
• Helps all library staff with a wide variety of tasks and projects upon request.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

•Student must be awarded Naropa work study hours by the Naropa Financial Aid office.
•High degree of emotional intelligence, integrity, critical thinking, and communication skills.
•Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
•Highly self-motivated and detail oriented.
•Good customer service/interpersonal skills; great communicator.
•Able to work with a team.
•Willing and able to cover unscheduled hours a few times a semester.
•Must be punctual, and able to commit to a semester-long schedule.
•Experience with computers and technology.
•Willingness to learn, and interest in all Naropa curricula to support knowledge of collection.
•Able to regularly work at/commute to multiple Naropa University campuses.

All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
