Compensation: $57,500 - 65,000 depending on experience.

Job Summary

The Junior Systems Administrator position will work in conjunction with the Associate Director of IT to manage Naropa’s hybrid domain infrastructure, Azure Active Directory, and On-Premises Active Directory. Providing complete technical support to a windows and linux based Client Server office environment. The successful candidate will require an aptitude for working with applications/systems to undertake analysis, diagnosis and resolution of PCs, Printer, Telecom, Network and software problems, which may range from straightforward to more complicated technical issues. As issues arise, the Junior Systems Administrator will be responsible for the creation of troubleshooting procedures, that will be documented and utilized by Naropa IT support staff. There is also a range of administration duties within this role, including but not limited to telecom management, wireless issues, security related issue, and vendor management.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Navigation and technical administration of a Help Desk ticketing system. This involves critical thinking, working with deadlines, and exceeding user expectations.
• Adhering to fundamental security principles, such as maintaining strong password complexity, regularly patching systems, and keeping up to date with new security incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Perform Active Directory Services administration and management to include managing accounts, design, cleanup and routine maintenance and configuration.
• Perform cleanup and assist with the administration of Azure, Azure Active Directory, and other cloud based admin resources.
• Conduct product research and purchase server hardware, software and networking services or products.
• Collaborate with the Helpdesk Supervisor to purchase, implement and manage the inventory of Naropa user hardware.
• Support and manage Windows, Linux, and MacOS operating systems.
• Assist in the creation of deployment and maintenance procedures for enterprise software applications, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Office, Adobe products,
• Creates, configures, implements, installs, monitors, troubleshoots and evaluates new and existing operating systems.
• Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls.
• Distribution/installation of software and software updates (WSUS).
• Responsible for maintaining system documentation.
• Make recommendations and implement changes that will ensure a high quality of service.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Assist with network components of server installations and troubleshooting.
• Responsible for performing or assisting in Switch and Router configuration & support.
• Responsible for Firewall maintenance.
• DNS and DHCP implementation, configuration, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting.
• Stay apprised of, and assist in implementing, best security practices throughout University network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot/assist in network issues as needed.
• Assisting Technical Support Specialists including troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
• Create, update, and resolve helpdesk tickets and work on issues that pertain to the equipment and services that Naropa supports and maintains.
• Automation of core IT processes through the use of Powershell, in addition to other scripting languages as necessary.
• Upkeep of existing automations and scripts.

What We Require

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. (Equivalent experience may be substituted on an individual basis)
• Experience with Network router, switch, wireless access point, and firewall hardware & software installation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with computer hardware, software and operating system installations and troubleshooting (Windows, MacOS, Linux).
• 2+ years of experience in an information technology role.
• Basic networking knowledge in IPv4 and related protocols such as DHCP, DNS, and the importance of VLANs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with a diverse community.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.
