Compensation: $20 per hour and $2,250 scholarship for the academic year

Job Summary
Providing one-on-one library research sessions with Naropa University students from all programs and levels, (via zoom, and in-person when possible, and convenient for both parties). Will be trained to carry out helpful research sessions that will benefit students, and also that will benefit the graduate assistants both in their own studies, as well as developing skills that will be useful in their own possible future career paths.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Working with librarians to train in research and best practices for carrying out research sessions. Staying actively engaged with librarians to grow in skills and learning throughout entirety of assistantship, including meeting regularly, communicating any possible question/problem/growth areas to librarians, engaging in development and learning throughout time of assistantship. Regularly engaging with online resources and software, and email and digital correspondences. Working with other students one-on-one. Engaging in self-assessment, and also assessment from other sources, including librarians, and student researchers.

Job Requirements: 

• Familiarity with and understanding of library resources; customer service experience and/or past experience interfacing with library users who need help with information resources; comfort and experience navigating online information resources; ability to learn new computer-based software’s and systems; kindness, patience, and thoughtfulness in interpersonal communications; creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Current Naropa University graduate student in good standing.
• All job candidates must demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding of and appreciation for the values of Naropa University and the capacity to demonstrate an integration and embodiment of these values as evidenced in work, communication, collaboration styles, and other general workplace behaviors.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:
In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness. As a graduate assistant, you may spend extended periods time with any of the following:
•Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
•Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
•Standing or sitting for hours at a time.
•Moving around campus for classes and meetings.

Naropa recognizes the following holidays throughout the year: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, 4th Thursday and Friday in November, and Winter Break, the last two weeks in December encompassing the Christmas holiday as well as New Year’s.

Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa’s retirement plan only, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.

All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
