Compensation: $17.00 an hour

Job Summary
Student Activity Coordinators represent students during the Summer Writing Program and help develop events that are of interest to the entire community, such as student panels and readings . This is a temporary position for 3 weeks (includes one 2 hour paid training prior to the start of program) from June 9-June 29, 2024.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• On-deck Monday mornings to assist the smooth launch of each week.
• Checks in with SWP Director and Program Coordinator daily regarding program & event updates
• Helps to coordinate administrative queries and logistics, directing inquiries to relevant staff member
• Plan and run all student events, 1 per week, usually programmed for Friday night.
• w/ Folio Editors, coordinate & host a release party for the new issue of BGLJ.
• Communicate the call for student panelists each week. usually programmed for Thursday afternoons
• Coordinate with selected panelists and Faculty Director Assistant on technical needs for the event.
• Listen to the voices of the student body and set up events that meet student interest.
• Introduce student readers, moderate panels, and introduce at least one guest for faculty readings

Minimum Requirements:

• Student may be enrolled for Undergraduate or Graduate degree.
• Must have experience organizing or hosting at least one major event.
• Must be a student currently enrolled in the Jack Kerouac School.
• Demonstrated community engagement.
• Timely and organized.

• Experience in event planning.
• Dynamic public speaker.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

During regular daily activities, employee must be able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: lift up to 30 pounds, stand, walk, sit, run, handle/finger, bend at the waist, reach above shoulder level, kneel, crouch, interruptions/distractions, and heat/cold.
