Job Summary
The Bike Shack Manager is responsible for overall Bike Shack hours, operation, purchasing, budgeting, organization and maintenance of the Bike Shack space, hardware and materials. This position also schedules and supervises the Bike Shack Assistant Manager work-study, and any volunteer mechanics. In addition, the Bike Shack Manager coordinates education and outreach into the larger community, and strategic planning and visioning of the Naropa Bike Shack mission. The Bike Shack Manager must also schedule appointments, provide customer service in the bike shack, perform bicycle maintenance and repair, and document all services performed.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
•Oversee safe, efficient, and professional operations at the Bike Shack.
•Foster a positive, inclusive team environment.
•Train and supervise the Assistant Manager (work-study).
•Respond promptly and respectfully to Bike Shack Intake form requests.
•Facilitate maintenance and repair of community members’ bicycles.
•Teach bike mechanics and provide cycling resources to the Naropa community.
•Promote the Bike Shack by creating and distributing educational flyers.
•Develop and implement strategies to grow the Bike Shack program.
•Set up, monitor, and dismantle the Bike Shack table at community events.
•Document all services according to Bike Shack procedures.
•Manage the Bike Shack budget, including tracking sales, purchases, and donations.
•Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
•Utilize Community Cycles membership for mechanical training and connect their services to the Naropa community.
•Collaborate with the Regeneration Specialist to organize bike-related events.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

•Personable, customer service oriented, and committed to sustainability best practices.
•Has previously attended or is able to attend Basic Bicycle Mechanics at Community Cycles (Naropa partner) on the timeframe set by the Sustainability Director.
•Familiar with and knows bikes, and familiar with bicycle parts/functions and bicycle maintenance tools.
•Problem solving skills, especially mechanical issues.
•Works will in a team, or alone; willing to learn and teach others.
•Comfortable with computer usage and willing to learn new processes/programs.

Naropa recognizes the following holidays throughout the year: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, 4th Thursday and Friday in November, and Winter Break, the last two weeks in December encompassing the Christmas holiday as well as New Year’s.

Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa’s retirement plan only, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.
All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
