Job Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a student worker position designed to support the institution's efforts in fostering a thriving community. This role provides an excellent opportunity for learning and growth while contributing to community-focused initiatives. The coordinator will assist in developing and implementing programs that enhance engagement between the institution and the broader community, while gaining valuable experience in community outreach and event planning.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Program and Event Coordination: Organize, facilitate, and support community-based programs, workshops, seminars, and gatherings (including setup and breakdown), focused on relationship building, civic engagement, and student involvement. Support and attend MCIC and Naropa signature events (including Community Gatherings, Town Halls, Community Practice Day, and others).

Student Group and Community Support: Support the creation and maintenance of community-focused student groups and foster relationships with local organizations and leaders.

Community Outreach and Promotion: Serve as a friendly point of contact for community inquiries, gather feedback and information on community needs, maintain social media accounts and produce web content specific to Cultural Heritage celebrations, and assist in developing and distributing promotional materials for community events and initiatives.

Attendance and Feedback Tracking: Log event attendance, send follow-up communications, and track community feedback and responses.

Administrative and Office Support: Provide general office support, including data entry, record-keeping, answering phones, filing, distributing mail, and maintaining a clean and organized office space.

Team Collaboration: Meet and collaborate regularly with MCIC staff and the work-study team to support ongoing and emergent projects.

Professional Conduct: Maintain positive, professional, and service-oriented communication with faculty, staff, students, and the wider community.

1. Student must be awarded FEDERAL work study hours by the Financial Aid office in order to fill this position.

2. Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity in higher education/the workplace.

3. Commitment to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and on-going self-examination.

4. Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.

All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
