Job Summary

The Regenerative Community Specialist facilitates promotion, education and outreach of resilience and regeneration initiatives throughout campus and in the wider community. This includes sponsored event planning, scheduling, advertising, and administrative participation in the Naropa Regenerative Network (ReGeN) meetings, and other sustainability projects on campus. The ReGen Specialist coordinates campus social-ecological and sustainability initiatives involving regenerative practices, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and transportation.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Event Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with the Naropa Regenerative Network (ReGeN), MCIC, and campus partners to plan, coordinate, and execute regeneration-focused events such as Earth Justice Day, Community Resilience Day, and the Student Engagement Resource Fair. Support and attend MCIC and Naropa signature events (including Community Gatherings, Town Halls, Community Practice Day, and others).

Meeting Management: Organize and coordinate ReGeN meetings, including creating Zoom links, maintaining agendas, recording minutes, and following up on action items.

Student Engagement and Representation: Serve as the ReGen Student liaison to the Student Union of Naropa (SUN), actively participating in meetings and engaging the student body by enhancing existing and developing new sustainability events and initiatives.

Community Collaboration: Work with the Bike Shack and other campus organizations to promote alternative transportation and community bike rides.

Attendance and Feedback Tracking: Log event attendance, send follow-up emails, and track community feedback and responses.

Research and Recommendations: Conduct research on sustainability best practices and provide informed recommendations to the MCIC director to advance regenerative initiatives.

Partnership and Outreach: Participate in and promote activities with MCIC, the Joanna Macy Center for Resilience and Regeneration, and external partners including the Climate Justice Hive and Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center’s Nuclear Nexus.

Fellow Support: Assist Joanna Macy Fellows as needed, with a focus on supporting the Earth Guardian Fellow.

Team Collaboration: Meet and collaborate regularly with MCIC staff and the work-study team to support ongoing and emergent projects.

Event Support: Aid in the organization, setup, and breakdown of MCIC events and trainings (including Community Gatherings, Town Halls, Community Practice Day, and others), both in-person and online. Collaborate with the MCIC Media Specialist to market ReGen initiatives effectively.

Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Student must be awarded federal work study hours by the Naropa Financial Aid office in order to fill this position.

An understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity in higher education.

Commitment to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and ongoing self-examination

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information appropriately.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Edge

Strong technical skills, ability to learn new platforms in social media, media design, graphic design, etc.

Educational degree/diploma required:

High school

Minimum length of prior relevant professional experience required:

6 months to 1 year of similar experience a plus.
